INVISALIGN VS. METAL BRACES

What is the difference between Invisalign and traditional metal braces? There are pros and cons to each orthodontic treatment.

In general, Invisalign users experience:

  • Less oral discomfort and mouth sores due to the lack of sharp wires

  • Less risk of cavities or plaque buildup, as aligners can be removed for eating and cleaning

  • Better self-confidence because Invisalign trays are clear and fit snugly over teeth

For adults looking to straighten their teeth in an unobtrusive way, Invisalign is definitely an option to consider.

HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?

  • Invisalign is a system of orthodontics that uses clear, removable aligner trays to gradually shift your teeth into new positions. At your consultation, we will scan your teeth with the most advanced Invisilign scanner on the market, The Itero Element Plus, creating a 3D simulation model. This model will show you what your teeth will look like after the treatment is complete.

  • If you decide that Invisalign is right for you, the 3D model will be sent off so your aligners can be prepared. In just a few short weeks, you can return to our office to pick up your first set of aligners.

  • You will need to wear your clear aligners 20 to 22 hours per day in order to see results. This means you can remove them while you eat, for cleaning, or even for an important moment like a presentation or a speech.

  • Every few weeks you will switch to a new set of aligners, each one moving your teeth closer to their final positions. Our dentists will keep track of your progress through check-ins every 6 to 8 weeks.
